APPLICATIONS |
||
Isonicotinic acid, an isomer of nicotinic acid, is a a six-membered ring structure composed of five carbon atoms and a nitrogen which replace one carbon-hydrogen unit in the benzene ring, plus a carboxyl side chain at 4-position (nicotinic acid has a carboxyl side chain at 3-position). Isonicotinic acid is chiefly used in antituberculosis drugs especially Isoniazid (isonicotinic acid hydrazide), the most effective one. Isonicotinic acid and its derivatives are used in manufacturing pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. | ||
